Acciona Water lands contracts worth 69.4 million euro

Acciona Water was recently awarded three contracts worth a combined 69.4 million euro. Madrid City granted Acciona Water the contract to operate and maintain the La Gavia wastewater treatment plant. The 16 million euro contract is for two years, with the possibility of a two-year extension. Inaugurated just a year ago, La Gavia is located in the district of Villa de Vallecas, in south-eastern Madrid.

The city of Almuñecar (Granada) has awarded a 41.8 million euro contract to Acciona Water (in consortium) to build a new reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant and operate it for 20 years. The installation, with capacity to produce 16, 000 cubic metres per day, and scope to expand to 24,000, includes a seawater capture and pumping station and the construction of an undersea brine discharge pipe.

And Spain's Environment Ministry has selected Acciona Water (in consortium) to build a sewage network and treatment plant in the rural area of Cáceres adjoining the Portuguese border. Acciona Water's part of the contract is worth 11.6 million euro and will be executed in 45 months. This project involves designing, building and starting up the following wastewater treatment plants: Valverde del Fresno-Eljas, Ceclavín, Cilleros, Zarza la Mayor, Membrio, Santiago de Alcántara, Carbajo and Herrera de Alcántara, all in the province of Cáceres. The eight plants will process a total of 2,650 cubic metres per day in low season and 5,630 cubic metres per day in high season.
