Amec provides services for Cory Potash Mine project in Canada

British construction giant Amec announces that PotashCorp, the world's largest fertilizer enterprise, has awarded it a contract to design and manage expansion of a leading potash mine.

Escalating global demand for the potash, a mineral essential to fertilizer, is expected to rise by more than 12 percent this year and is cited as one of the reasons PotashCorp will invest CDN $900 million (£430m) to upgrade its Cory Potash Mine in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Work will begin immediately and is expected to take 36 months to complete. Amec will earn approximately CDN $75 million (£36m) for providing the engineering, procurement, construction management and project management (EPCM) services for the project.
