Jacobs secures new contract with British Nuclear Group

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. announced that it received a Multi-Disciplinary Design House (MDDH) framework contract from British Nuclear Group Sellafield Ltd (BNGSL) following a successful rebidding process.

Sellafield is the U.K.'s largest nuclear reservation, where spent nuclear fuel is reprocessed and recovered nuclear material is developed into new nuclear fuel. The site is undergoing a concurrent cleanup of legacy wastes and facilities shutdown. Now owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), the facility employs more than 12,000 people and is managed by BNGSL.

Jacobs' new contract is for 2 years but can be extended an additional 1 to 2 years. It is a follow on to its existing MDDH contract for design services at Sellafield and will see the company deliver a range of design and engineering services at sites in Sellafield, Calder Hall, Drigg, and Capenhurst.
