Acciona builds Escoriatza-Aramaio section of the ’Basque Y’ line

Acciona Infrastructure, the Acciona division that specialises in developing and managing infrastructure projects, is part of the joint venture that has been awarded the contract to build the Escoriatza-Aramaio section of the Basque Y high-speed railway line, which will connect Vitoria, Bilbao and San Sebastián. This new section of line will be built in 29 months for a budget of 80.9 million euro.

Measuring 5.58 kilometres, it will connect the towns of Escoriatza (Guipúzcoa) and Aramaio (Álava). The contract also includes the ancillary work required to lay the line, such as earth movements, drainage works, structures, tunnels, environmental actions, restoration of services and easements, including seven roads over or under the line.

The principal components of the Escoriatza-Aramaio section are the viaducts over the GI-3343 road (471 metres long) and over Zarimutz (261 metres) and Uriarte (282 metres). Also notable are four dual-track tunnels: Uruburu-1 (475 metres), Uruburu-2 (460 metres), Mazmela (384 metres) and Induspo (2, 224 metres).
