Balfour Beatty net profit up 13 percent in 2006

British construction firm Balfour Beatty Plc said its full-year pre-tax profit up by 13% to 152 million pounds. The company's order book rose 20 percent to 9.1 billion pounds. Adjusted earnings per share up by 13% to 27.3 pounds. Balfour Beatty proposed final dividend of 5.2 pence a share, taking the total to 9.1p, up 12 percent from a year ago. "We have record order books, a number of preferred bidder positions on major projects and our markets are generally healthy and continue to offer substantial opportunity," the company said in a statement.
