Earth Tech selected for expansion work at Calgary Airport

Earth Tech, a business unit of Tyco International Ltd., and a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, has been selected as the mechanical and electrical design sub-consultant for the expansion of the international facilities at Calgary International Airport.

Earth Tech will design the electrical and mechanical systems for the airport as part of a team led by project management consultant UMA/AECOM Ltd, and prime design consultant Cohos Evamy Integrated Design. Earth Tech will address the overall electrical, power and lighting systems; HVAC; plumbing and fire protection. Sustainability will play a key role in the design development of the expansion, reflecting the airport authority's commitment to environmental excellence.

The Calgary Airport Authority criteria for expanding its international terminal were to accommodate a forecasted increase in airport traffic and to meet demands well beyond 2020. The USD$344.5 million (CAD$407 million) construction project will include a new addition to the existing terminal building, as well as extensive renovations within the main terminal. The design for this staged project will be completed over the next four years, with construction beginning in the spring of 2008 for completion in 2013.
