Alfred McAlpine buys Enviros Group

British construction firm Alfred McAlpine has acquired the entire ordinary share capital of Enviros Group Ltd, one of the UK's largest independent environmental consultancies, for £30m (£27m in cash and 526,543 in new Alfred McAlpine ordinary shares).

Enviros is led by Chief Executive Officer, Barry Newby, and Chief Financial Officer, Andrew Smith, both of who will remain with the business. Enviros is currently owned by its management team, backed by ECI Partners.

Enviros has developed a leading position in the UK environmental consultancy market through the acquisitions of the Aspinwall, March and Quantisci consultancies and by offering a complete range of environmental services and technology solutions. Enviros works across industry sectors, in both the public and private sector, and has a broad range of clients including DEFRA, the Carbon Trust, BP, Corus and the MoD. Enviros has over 300 consultants in ten offices in the UK and Ireland. As part of the Alfred McAlpine group, Enviros will continue to trade under the Enviros brand name.

In the year to 31 December 2006, Enviros reported a turnover of £29.5m, generating EBITDA of £2.6m and a pre-tax profit of £0.7m, before non-recurring items. The Gross Assets being acquired in the transaction total £10.7m.
