Zumtobel acquires activities in the LED sector

Austrian Zumtobel Group has acquired the business activities of my-tronic GmbH, based in Morbach/Germany. Under the lead management of Zumtobel subsidiary Ledon Lighting GmbH (Ledon), the acquiring company renamed to My-tronic Ledon GmbH. The acquisition took place in January 2007. The deal opens up new fields of business for Ledon, as well as growing the company's LED product portfolio. Within Ledon, My-tronic Ledon GmbH will form a Centre of Competence and will be a key supplier in the development and production of LED embedded systems and intelligent LED lighting solutions. Also, My-tronic Ledon GmbH will complement the activities of Ledon in accessing new fields of application, such as media façades.

The Zumtobel Group, based in Dornbirn in the Vorarlberg region of Austria, is one of the few global players in the lighting industry. The Group, which started life as Elektrogeräte und Kunstharzpresswerk W. Zumtobel KG in 1950, today employs a workforce of over 7,200 and in the 2005/06 financial year posted revenues of EUR 1,184.2 million.
