Thiess Services awarded $287M contracts in NSW and QLD

Thiess Services Pty Ltd has been awarded four significant waste collection and recycling contracts with local governments in NSW and QLD. Waste management is one of the company's core operations. The largest of the new contracts is the Regional Waste and Recycling Collection and Processing Contracts for Gosford and Wyong City Councils in NSW, valued at approximately $220 million. Commencing in February 2008, the term of the contract is 10 years. As part of the contract Thiess Services will build a new Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to process the recyclables collected. Construction of this facility will begin in the second half of 2007.

In Queensland, Thiess Services has been awarded waste collection and recycling contracts for Pine Rivers Shire Council and Caloundra City Council. Three contracts have been awarded to make up the works for Pine Rivers Shire Council, covering the collection of refuse and recyclables, and the construction and operation of a new MRF. In total, the works are valued at approximately $33 million. All three contracts commence on 1 July 2007. The two collection contracts are for a 5-year term, and the MRF contract is for 10 years.

The Caloundra City Council contract covers a wide range of waste and recycling collections, both from households and other Council facilities, and the operation of waste transfer stations. Valued at approximately $34 million, this contract will commence on 1 July 2007, and has a 7-year term with a 1 year option.
