Hitachi to grab attention with its construction machinery

bauma 2007, the world's largest exhibition for the construction and mining industries, will take place between 23 and 29 April at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre in Germany. The impressive Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) stand will measure almost 5,000m² and has been organised together with German Hitachi dealer Kiesel. The big name in construction will be the talk of industry during the show as it uses the space to grab the headlines with its Hitachi EX5500 excavator. Although the largest Hitachi mining shovel is the EX8000, the 550-tonne model is the largest working in Europe.

The new generation of Zaxis-3 wheeled excavators will also be a huge attraction on the stand at Bauma. The ZX140W-3, ZX170W-3, ZX190W-3 and ZX210W-3 - ranging from 14 to 21 tonnes - will be launched during the exhibition. The machines have been fitted with more powerful Tier III engines, resulting in enhanced digging performance, increased travel speed and reduced fuel consumption. They have also been developed to provide the same benefits as the current range of Zaxis-3 crawler excavators, which were launched in 2006.

The second phase of Zaxis-3 crawler excavators - the ZX180-3 and ZX160-3 - will also be unveiled to the general public for the first time. They will be joined by four new mini-excavators - the ZX08-2, ZX10U-2, ZX17U-2 and ZX22U-2 - and the new ZW180 wheeled loader.

Another special machine on the stand will be the ZX200 excavator that Hitachi has developed specifically for clearing landmines. This is already being used in Cambodia and other war-torn countries like Afghanistan. It will be accompanied by some new environmentally friendly concepts that have been developed with the future of the construction industry in mind.
