New Schmidt air and gas flow sensors

Schmidt introduced new air and gas flow sensors SS 20.60 with special properties: Measuring range 200 m/s, turn-down ratio 1 to 1000, calibration accuracy 1% of measuring value, sensor tip with high media resistance, available with analog interface or Profibus-DP or Device-Net interface. The high precision and extreme turn-down ratio could be achieved due to an improved electronic design and the new Schmidt pressure wind tunnel. The modular concept allows to select between analog interface or field bus interface. The sensor with filed bus interface delivers ready prepared measuring values like Kg/hr or m3/min and thus disburdens the supervising PLC.

The sensor gives access to its status information and allows the PLC to inform the user about defects of the sensor. Despite of the enhanced electronic and additional connectors the size of the sensor remained very compact and makes this sensor to one of the most compact flow sensor on the market.

Applications include compressed-air consumption measurements, volume flow measurements in nitrogen or other passivation gases, volume flow measurements in process gases, volume flow measurements in test benches, mass-flow control in combustion processes, flow measurements of air injection nozzles, air velocity measurements in dryers or sprayers.
