Atkins unveils alternative vision for London’s Sloane Square

International design consultancy, Atkins, working with the Sloane Square Improvement Group (SSIG), has unveiled its proposals for a 'renovated' and improved Sloane Square. The proposals seek to continue the tradition of the square's established gyratory design while providing an exciting, modern re-modelling of the layout to meet the needs of everyone who uses it, and to enhance the contribution it makes to the character and community of Chelsea. Atkins has produced its scheme as an alternative to the earlier designs developed by Stanton Williams Architects and adopted by the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea as its preferred option. It is now intended that both schemes are put to public consultation during February 2007 ahead of a final decision being made by the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.
