Borrego installed two photovoltaic solar power systems

Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. has completed the design and installation of two separate photovoltaic solar power systems, for a commercial workplace and a residential complex, just one block from one another, on the west side of Berkeley, CA. 206 highly efficient Sharp mono-crystalline solar modules line the rooftop of Access Softek's Berkeley headquarters, and provide the electrical power for everything in the building except the company's server room. What is unique to this project is the integrated awning structure Borrego Solar designed and built as a platform for the modules. This structure allowed Borrego Solar to increase the available power producing space, as well as add an attractive architecture feature to the building.

Just around the corner, and within eyesight from Access Softek's front entrance, Borrego Solar, Inc. has installed another system of photovoltaic modules atop the contemporary looking complex of three-story condominiums called 'Greenpads'. The challenge for Borrego Solar with the Greenpads installation was that due to condominium rules restrictions, each of the six live/work town homes needed to be powered by its own solar system. That is, Borrego Solar built six individual photovoltaic systems metered directly to each unit as opposed to one larger system of panels providing all of the electrical power to the building complex. Each system is powered by its own power converter or inverter. Although more complex and expensive to design and build, the customized installation makes it possible for homeowners to monitor their individual energy usage and costs.

Both the Access Softek and Greenpads installations provide significant savings in lower energy cost.

Borrego Solar Systems, Inc. is a designer and installer of commercial, government and residential grid-connected solar electric systems.
