Atkins wins major £150m highways partnership

Atkins was awarded a groundbreaking highways services contract from Gloucestershire County Council (GCC).

The five year contract (extendable to 10 years) has an annual value of at least £30m to Atkins, and comprises the integration of professional highway management services with the operation and maintenance of the county road network in Gloucestershire.

Atkins already operates two of the three existing integrated local authority transport contracts in the UK, in Somerset and Northamptonshire.

Atkins has been the preferred bidder for the contract, under a negotiated procedure, since October and the award decision now allows the mobilisation process to start. The contract will start on 1 April 2006.
