TruSeal Technologies unveils enhanced TAPE-AT

TruSeal Technologies, Inc. and Besten Equipment, Inc. have designed an enhanced version of the Totally Automated Production Equipment line. In addition to being 30 percent more compact than the previous version, the new TAPE-AT is built with advanced control software for simplified system maintenance and diagnostics.

The TAPE-AT line now features a glass-lite transfer control system using Allen-Bradley SLC 500 series programmable logic controllers in an Ethernet platform. This familiar platform enables convenient system maintenance and improved diagnostic capabilities. In addition, the new TAPE-AT is accentuated with interactive Human-Machine Interface touch screens that put vital control information at the fingertips of operators in key locations throughout the production process.

The TAPE-AT system provides insulating glass manufacturers with high volume productivity and capital efficiency. The hands-free applicator uses input dimensions to apply TruSeal insulating glass spacers to lites in small, medium and large modes. Application cycle times are as low as 18 seconds. In addition, the system automatically marks the spacer with an inkjet printer for proper placement of internal grids. Following assembly of the insulating glass unit, a True Dual Seal application station is available, providing manufacturers with a one-step installation process.

Other enhancements to the TAPE-AT line, include:
- Mix-mode production: allows continually variable insulating glass unit sizes to run simultaneously;
- One-side production: helps reduce labor costs when necessary;
- Independent production: each side can run independently for production flexibility.
