Universal Flow Monitors introduces Flowstream flowmeters

Universal Flow Monitors, Inc. introduces a new improved FlowStream OFM Series of mass flowmeters for fast and accurate measurement of nonaggressive gases. The meters are designed for blanketing gas, purge gas, shielding gas, leak detection and other applications in industrial, medical and laboratory settings. Field selectability of multiple gases is a new feature of FlowStream meters for measuring mass flow rate of clean and dry gases. A user can easily program a FlowStream meter for precise and reliable measurement of air, argon, carbon dioxide, helium, hydrogen, methane, nitrogen or oxygen. A gas is selectable by pushing buttons on the meter face. The span of the unit's transmitted signal can be changed with push buttons as well.

Totalizing capability is now offered to increase a FlowStream meter's ability to measure, monitor and control the total amount of gas used in a process. The meters are available with programmable set points for flow as standard. A scaled pulse output for totalization is a new selectable option. Bidirectional and battery-operated units are now available.

A rapid response time of 5 milliseconds is another new selectable option for immediate detection of flow fluctuation in robotic applications and other automated systems. FlowStream meters provide a fast 50 ms response as a standard feature. The 5 ms response time is user selectable by pushing buttons on the meter face.

FlowStream meters can now read full-scale flow rates as low as .5 SCM up to 1000 SLPM. The meters also can now accommodate operating pressures as high as 125 PSI. NIST traceable accuracies are +/- 1 percent for the majority of gases in the FlowStream group and +/-2 percent for nearly all other gases in the group.

FlowStream OFM Series mass flowmeters are rugged, cost-effective instruments that employ Laminar Flow Element technology. The meters are NEMA Type 4 watertight construction for use in wet areas. They are rated EMI immune for heavy industrial use and are electrically shielded for use near welders, motors and transformers. Intrinsic safety, including an appropriate barrier, is offered as an option.

FlowStream meters are easy to use and simple to install. They do not require straight pipe runs and can be mounted in any orientation. They feature built-in alarm switches and are available with LCD readout displays for flow, pressure, temperature and total. Output options include current, voltage and frequency.
