Reed and Eucia Launch Composites Europe

Reed Exhibitions and the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA) are launching a European Trade Fair and Forum for Composites, Technology and Applications.
The event, entitled Composites Europe, will take place from 20th – 22nd September 2006 in Essen, Germany, and is designed for small and medium sized enterprises with the focus on composites applications and solutions. The event represents EuCIA’s first trade fair on the European continent.

The three-day trade fair aims to be a central trade fair in Europe for the entire composites development and manufacturing chain, from raw materials and process engineering through to practical applications and finished products.

The show will run alongside Reed’s other exhibition, Aluminium 2006. Reed suggest that running both shows together will appeal to industries where both materials apply to specific industry applications, adding that "one in three professionals attending the Aluminium show is also a potential user of composites”. The company referred to the A380 as an example of a hybrid composite/aluminium structure, with its body consisting of 60 per cent aluminium and 40 per cent composite materials.

NetComposites has previously organised an event called Composites Europe, held in Barcelona on 6-7 October 2005. To avoid confusion between the two events, NetComposites has agreed to licence the name Composites Europe to Reed Exhibitions for the new event. Future events organised by NetComposites will have a different name.

The plan is for Composites Europe trade fair and accompanying forum, including workshops and product presentations, to take place annually in the most important application markets in Europe. In keeping with this, Reed Exhibitions will hold Composites Europe alternatively in Germany in even years and in other significant market locations in odd years.
